Abstract

This research is qualitative in nature, specifically a scoping review protocol. Objective: to map the most effective interventions for the treatment of Prolonged Grief Disorder (PGD) in adults bereaved by suicide. The study aims to identify and evaluate various therapeutic approaches, highlighting those with the most proven efficacy, as well as the existing gaps in the current literature on the topic. Method: this is a scoping review protocol. A database was utilized, employing health descriptors. The process of searching, identifying, and evaluating articles was guided by the PRISMA-ScR protocol, aiming to answer the following guiding question: What are the most effective evidence-based interventions for treating Prolonged Grief Disorder in adults bereaved by suicide? Articles published in Portuguese and English, in the public domain, and involving Prolonged Grief Disorder and grief by suicide were included. A total of 17 studies were found, and after all stages of the research, one study remained as the final sample. This study is a randomized clinical trial to verify the efficacy of internet-based cognitive-behavioural grief therapy (ICBGT) in individuals bereavedby suicide. The results were analyzed and discussed based on Bardin's (2015) content analysis. In summary, ICBGT proved to be adequate and effective for the treatment of PGD, as well as for general grief process symptoms and depressive symptoms.
